Come work for RN NetworkRN first assistants play a hands-on role in surgical procedures by controlling bleeding, suturing incisions and wounds and intervening if complications arise. For example, if a patient s blood pressure begins to drop during surgery, they might administer life-saving drugs to stabilize it. If a patient s heart stops, they might perform CPR. They also monitor a patient s vital signs, including heart rate, respiration and pulse. If the patient begins to struggle, the first assistant alerts the physician so he can address the complications. RNFAs also care for patients before and after surgery. Prior to a procedure, they meet with patients and family members to answer their questions about the surgery, anesthesia and recovery. They also assess the patient s physical condition to identify problems that would make surgery too risky. Following the surgery, they evaluate the patient s condition again to determine if he s ready for transport to the recovery room. They look at his vital signs and ensure everything is sutured and there s no bleeding or other complications. RN first assistants work in a high-stress environment where they must think quickly and stay calm under pressure. Because they work so closely with the surgeon and fellow perioperative nurses, they must also have excellent communication skills and be able not only to follow the surgeon s instructions but also communicate clearly to other members of the surgical team. In addition, they must follow strict safety protocols to protect themselves and patients. With some surgeries lasting several hours, they often spend a lot of time on their feetCustomized benefits package with the pay and insurance coverage you need, beginning day onePaid private housing and utilities, and reimbursement for travelReimbursement for licensing and certificationWhy choose RNnetwork?
